🚒 A couple weeks ago, our Group CLS members took a visit to the Georgetown Fire Station #1 where, Group CLS mentor, Luke, also works!
🧯 Luke showed the group around the station, gave an in depth tour of the fire truck and all the necessary attachments, then got to sit in the truck!! They even got to try on some firefighter gear, how awesome is that?

Way to go Rosie! 💚🌟🌟SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 Let us introduce you to Rosie! She comes to Beer City Dog Biscuits with her IKUS Life Enrichment Services Community Living Support (CLS) person on Mondays. She is soft spoken and an excellent worker! She has been around the kitchen doing different tasks, like filling biscuit molds with dough, labeling bags, and weighing and filling them with our three different flavors of dog biscuits 👏
Rosie lives in Grand Rapids. She has one older sister, two younger sisters, one niece, and three nephews. Rosie also has five cats 🐱 and two dogs 🐶 In her free time, Rosie enjoys hanging out with her CLS person, Rachel, watching TV, and playing with her cats. She also spends time drawing, making pot holders, and knitting hats 🧶 She then sells those handmade items at craft shows! When it comes to music, Rosie was quick to say how much she liked Meghan Trainor! She also enjoys country, especially Carrie Underwood, and anything from the TV show Glee. Her favorite foods are pizza and spaghetti, specifically from Fazoli's! 😋
When we asked Rosie which task she liked doing best at BCDB, she said "putting the dough in the molds because it feels like play dough." She also said her favorite biscuits to make were the cherry flavor because she loves cherries 🍒🦴 When asked what skills she has learned in our kitchen and she said "making friends and having fun!" She also added that she has learned a lot about responsibilities and how to manage them. That's amazing, Rosie, way to go‼ We are proud to have you in our kitchen and are so happy to see you every Monday 🌟🌟

Two great organizations!
🎳 R.E.C. Connect loves bowling! Our members take bowling very seriously, and we are able to go to Hudsonville Lanes several times a month to bowl a few games and get out in the community. Of course, a yummy lunch at Mr. Burger followed this exhausting game!

💚 Meet Alisha, a member of our Supported Employment program here at IKUS!
✨ When she found herself in between jobs last spring, Alisha wasted no time locking down something new. Her need and desire to support both her household and community were obvious… this young woman would not be sitting at home for long. Within a week of starting her search with her IKUS job coach, Alisha had found herself interviewing for a position at her neighborhood Meijer store.
🌱 Though the position offered was not exactly what she wanted, Alisha saw the potential for growth within the company and a more consistent schedule.
🧹 Alisha plays a critical but often overlooked role, providing much needed cleaning/custodial services as well as a host of miscellaneous tasks that keep the store looking good and functioning properly.
💪 “I don’t love everything about the job, but stuff has to get done.”
💥 Alisha’s willingness to show up for every shift and do whatever is needed is a testament to her work ethic and are character traits that seem harder to come by these days.
💚 We here at IKUS are so very proud of Alisha and feel so fortunate to have a part in her employment journey!

🎡 Group CLS went to the Hudsonville Fair a couple weeks ago! Their day was full of wacky games, yummy food, and EXHILARATING rides!! Our favorite days are outing days💚

🍽️ Dale, a nutritionist from that has worked in Ottawa county for a number of years, came to IKUS yesterday and talked with R.E.C. Connect about My Plate! She helped us learn more about how we can incorporate all of our necessary nutrition into each day!

⛰ Today Group CLS got outside in the sunshine and had a LAVA fun learning about volcanoes and making their own volcanic eruption!
💥 Did you know that a volcanic eruption can shoot ash 18-19 miles into the air, and launch rocks the size of minivans? WHOA! 🤯
